Just Some Pictures

Boring is good when it comes to horses, less so for blogs. It's hard to be interesting when the equine parts of my day basically consist of trying to control Bridget's weight with trail rides and trying to keep the three year old monster pony exercised without actually riding her.

Sophie has been a bit of a bad citizen this week...we're at the "why should I?" stage. I miss the agreeable baby already! She's looking a bit footsore to me as well, I think shoes are going to be part of future summer adventures. I also measured her and she's just a hair over 14hh. I'm really disappointed as I thought she'd grown. (14hh is quite a bit smaller than I'd hoped, crossing everything she grows more!)

Back in jail due to pushing on fences...again.

Bridget has been pretty miserable given how ridiculously hot it's been. She's NOT a fan of warm weather, so I've taken pity on her and let her hide under the trees in the shade all day and only pop on for the odd hack on the trail because its shady there.

Looking a little plump :)

So, in short, I have a ton of pictures to share and no interesting stories behind them.  Enjoy the pictures!

Bridget would really like to visit that ungrazed paddock.

She has a big shade tree where she is, though.

Looking innocent

But can barely stand still. The boundary testing is intense right now

The tree has now absorbed Bridget

She's hilarious. Her front teeth have grown in, at least

  1. How about poneying? You could practice in the ring, and then move on to the trails. It would help build her endurance (physical and mental) for longer sessions of low-grade work, and better prepare her for seeing you on top.

    1. I do pony her off of Bridget on the trails, but you're right, it's great for her and I should be doing it more. I feel like she kind of tunes out and trudges along because Big Sister Bridget and I are taking care of things, but that's not such a bad thing some days :)

  2. She's only three. Carmen finished growing at 6. Also, she's so damn cute!
    Ponying is a great idea.

    1. I'd be so happy if she grew until 6! Sadly, no changes since last fall. Crossing my fingers :)

  3. Lovely pictures! Both mares sure are cute. I am with Bridget on the heat and being a little plump. ;-)

I should try and get a picture of my 4yo's teeth - we've been calling him Hillbilly Fred, since he is losing teeth and new ones are growing in. Pretty funny!

    1. Hillbilly Sophie is a thing too, lol. The barn owners called me in a panic a few months ago because Sophie had missing teeth and they worried she'd been in an accident.

  7. You want her to stay under 14.2 though right? For more showing opportunities in the future :)

    1. At least here, because I am an adult wanting to do dressage, it's better if she's 14.3hh plus. But I will take whatever I get! :)
