Scariest Garden Hose

Perhaps unexpectedly, this is a post about me being scared of the new hose at the barn, not my horses hating hoses or water. Or maybe if you've read this blog a while, you're not surprised by the random neuroses of yours truly.

Exhibit A: New hose left out to drain by the barn:

Exhibit B: Example of a garter snake:

Both inhabit the area around the barn, both move around, but seem to prefer hanging out in the long grass near the water taps.

It's freaking ridiculous, but every.single.time I trip over that hose or catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye, I'm like "EEK!"

I don't even mind snakes per say, just not a fan of their habit of appearing unexpectedly in odd places and then slithering around unpredictably. Just pick a spot and stay there so I know where you are!

New rule: Same goes for you, New Barn Hose!:D

(AND SERIOUSLY, WHOSE IDEA WAS IT TO MANUFACTURE A HOSE IN THESE COLORS?! AND WHY DID THE BARN OWNER BUY IT INSTEAD OF ONE OF THE MANY OTHER COLORS BASIC GARDEN HOSES COME IN? Does no one else see the similarity? I have so many questions :) )

  1. totally 100 percent with you on that. I would be eeking too. I actually brought the brightest green shrinking hose so i would never think it was a real snake. LOL That one is creepy!! I would be hacking it to death many times :) LOL EEK! :)

    1. :) Love the idea of a brighter colored hose! Maybe yellow with happy smiley faces or something, lol

  2. Lol! I have a friend who has PTSD about snakes as she stepped in a garter snake pit as a child. I won't mention that the hose could be mistaken for a snake to her!

    1. i have a friend who had a black snake drop on her while she was doing stalls in her shed row barn. It took her a year to get back to doing stalls. I would probably never do them again LOL(Obviously snake was not aiming for her and misjudged but still. OMG I still get chilled thinking of stepping on one or having one fall on one or whatever..shudder)

    2. I'd probably just burn the barn down and rebuild because there's no way I'd go back in there ever!

    3. Yep, burn the barn, and sell the property with the snake pit. There's no coming back from that!

    1. I'm carefully not mentioning it to my husband, because he'd be all about thinking it would be hilarious to buy them for our yard if he knew my feelings :)
