Short Lesson Recap

Me: " So I had this great idea."
EC: ?
Me: "I'm going to buy a llama."
EC: "And?"
Me: "I'm going to ride my llama. And you're going to be all "Look at you, riding that llama exactly the way a llama should be ridden." "

Changing the goalposts. Working with your strengths. Whatever we want to call it, I think I'm on to something here.

(I actually had a great lesson. We're consistently getting some "jump" in the canter these days which is exciting to feel after a winter of struggle)

  1. LOL- if you get a Llama all the classical Llama training nazis will come out and attack you on how you are not doing it according to the ancient principals as per the texts from the Incas. Then the natural llamaship people will urge you to engage in the 7 Llama games for just $999 per year.

    So maybe stick with B?

    1. So very true! Suddenly, llama training will also become a mystical, magical thing and I'll just have a cute fuzzy llama to groom (probably incorrectly ;)

    1. Right? "No, no, you need to bounce MORE! Your hands need to be MORE ACTIVE! Your llama is not nearly inverted enough" ;)

  4. LOL!!! Sounds a lot like when I decide, "I think I'm going to quit jumping and dressage and just take up bareback bridleless trail riding at the walk." Llamas are also SOOOO fluffy and adorable and they have banana-shaped ears, so even if you keep riding ponies I think you still need a llama.

    1. We ride past some quite frequently. Bridget is skeptical but I think they're awesome and actually do want one (as a pet!No riding!)

  5. Haha! That or a giraffe... though a llama probably fits into a horse trailer more easily =P

    1. Sort of my thinking. Giraffes are adorable, just not conveniently sized...I'd have difficulty navigating through our forested trails lol
