Oh my goodness. Emi's mane is crazy too! I haven't figured out what I'm going to do with it long term.
ReplyDeleteI still don't know lol! Bridget's breeder is really great at getting them tidy and even she couldn't get either of mine perfect. I think I just need to be on top of it every time I groom rather than waiting until I'm super annoyed with how it looks and trying to make a drastic change.

DeleteSydney's mane is so thick! I have pretty much given up on it and have come very close to hogging it multiple times. Attempts at pulling it have totally failed.
ReplyDeleteMine are like that too...it's about 60% talent and hard work and 40% luck if they ever do look good. Sydney could totally pull off the hogged mane look - such a pretty girl.
DeleteManes can be troublesome. I try to keep Nancy's long and have yet to pull it, but she had a good itch off a tree or something last autumn when I made the mistake of leaving in a running braid for turnout and ripped out a chunk of her mane!!! It has grown back a good bit since then but is still a long way off the rest of her mane! I am trying to decide whether to pull the rest up to the shorter length or wait a bit more for it to grow then try to even it up...decisions decisions harumpf
ReplyDeleteKika's is technically easier as i like it shorter, however she doesn't particularly like getting it pulled (can't say I blame her) and i tend not to pull between May & November due to them being on 24/7 turnout and flies...so i prefer to leave her with enough for a L'Oréal flick to shake it off (yep I now have Taylor Swifts song stuck in my head)
I tried the whole mane and tail braiding thing and it backfired on me too. I'm half serious when I joke about having my hairdresser friend out to the barn for a visit. I have really thick hair and she does a great job on mine with razor cuts lol :)
DeleteI'm with you, for the most part. I like to keep Connor's short because it helps him to look more like a sport pony and less like a Thelwell pony, but the first time I did it, I got it way too short, and it has never lain on one side since.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of a shorter 'sporty' mane...it's the actually getting there part that's killing me. Both my girls have the double sided thing going on too if I pull it any shorter than about 6". I'm starting to think one of those spandex hood things is the only way!
